REWIND: Dopamind Show | 2022

I like showing art in bars...

Beer, bar snacks, music and art are a good combination and contrast from the often - lets face it, sterile, uptight atmosphere of a white walled gallery. I had maybe stepped foot in my first nightclub before I had visited an art gallery (if not it was a close run thing. Though I had definitely been to my first pub by then.)

In Autumn of 2022 I had show called Dopamind hosted by Unity. This was very low key event, I have never been one to scream and shout about new work (much to my own detriment possibly) and held at a fairly new venue Mosaic Tap, tucked away behind Central Station in Newcastle - a little gem if you like your craft ales and fruity lagers.

The ‘Dopamind’ series explored the addictive cycle of motivation, reward and reinforcement known as the ‘Dopamine Feedback Loop’. And was a set of 12 wooden mounted artworks, utilising the same palette but each with subtle variations.

Side Notes

● I got flagged by Google for selling possible illegal pharmaceuticals due to the artworks title - which proves ai can be pretty stupid. (only joking ai.)

● However I was rewatching Breaking Bad whilst cooking up these artworks.

● The promo flyers for the event were printed on beer mats.
