About

Black and white photo of a man with a beard wearing a baseball cap, looking upward, with a wooden yellow frown curved around his chin area.

Adam Pointer is a UK artist whose graphic-driven contemporary work playfully explores the impact of a distraction-fueled modern age on the human brain and condition.

Black brain shaped icon with a central 'X'.
My visual language was shaped early on by the graphic world of skate culture, music mags, and album covers ...

I’m drawn to working with tactile materials and physical formats — a conscious move away from working slavishly on a screen. Applying my work to products feels like a natural extension of my practice. It’s also an opportunity to collaborate across disciplines, where I can dive into everything from material selection to print techniques.

Background

Pointer began his creative journey as a design intern at The Face magazine before moving into freelance commercial art, crafting visuals for notable brands including Liberty London, Diesel, Fila, MTV, GQ, Goodhood, and Wallpaper.

In 2019, he shifted his focus to his personal artistic practice, culminating in his debut solo show, Mind Full Mess. More recently, his work was featured in the group exhibition Guilty by Association at the Baltic Art Gallery.

Artist Statement

My work takes the perspective of the brain under siege—bombarded with constant information, fighting for our attention - 24/7. I'm drawn to how this overload is reshaping our focus, thinking, and sense of well-being.

I started sketching brains around 2014, during a particularly chaotic period in my life. Those early drawings became graphic snapshots, like cross-sections of the mental noise in my head.

For me, making art is a compulsive act. I’m always chasing new ideas, directions, materials, and ways to push the work forward. Please reach out if you would like to collaborate.
